GPA Calculator

Calculate your grade point average (GPA) for high school or college with these steps: 

1. Add the letter grade 
2. Add the course credit 
3. Add course type (if weighted) 
4. Calculate cumulative GPA

Before steps 1-4, decide whether you need a weighted or unweighted GPA. To calculate a weighted GPA, make sure “Weighted” is enabled at the top. 

1. Add the letter grade

Add the letter grade for each of your courses in a semester. When needed, add more courses to the semester with “Add Course.”

If you don’t know your grades for certain courses, for instance, if they’re still ongoing, you can estimate for now and come back later.

2. Add the course credit

Add the credit value of each course. If you aren’t sure, check with a school counselor or academic advisor.  

3. Select the course type (if weighted)

When calculating a weighted GPA, you’ll also need to select the course type. In the “Weight” dropdown, choose between Regular, Honors, AP/IB, or College. 

You’ll need to do this because each course type has a different weight assigned to it.

4. Calculate cumulative GPA

After adding the grade information for all semesters, your cumulative GPA (i.e., overall GPA) will be calculated for you.  

Having your cumulative GPA on hand is helpful for tracking your academic progress over the year or assessing your current eligibility for universities or scholarships.
